Notes for JOHN HANBACK: Virginia Valley Records, John Wayland, GPC Baltimore 1985 p. 116 lists John Hanback with 1 tithable, and 1 horse in Capt Michael Rorick's Company Nr 17, in "Militia Vouchers from Rockingham County 1788. (served in same
company as Frederick BODEY and Achory Berry and Mallikiah Berry).
Culpeper Co. Deed Book K, p. 343, 15 Mar 1781, John Hea Back and Mary his wife to Henry Miller 50 acres on the Robinson River. This seems to have been part of the land left to Mary by her father John Huffman. Germanna Record#3, p.70. Culpeper Co.

The tithables of Culpeper Co. show John Hanback with 1 tithable from 1782 through 1787, but after this he disappears. GR#3 p.71. The tithables of Shenandoah Co. show John Hanback with 2 tithables for the first time in 1789, indicating a son born
by 1782/3. He is shown with only 1 tithable (himself)1790 - 94, does not appear in 1795 (when he died); Mary Hanback "0", obviously his widow, is shown 1796 - 98, but she disappears in 1799.
The Shenandoah Co. land-taxes show John Hanback or Handback with 150 acres 1789-95; 1796-98 shows John Handback heirs 150 acres.
