He was one of four pioneers there in 1644 who was honored with the title of 'Mr.' Their children were all born in Pitminster. Richard Treat held several offices in Wethersfield, where he died in 1669. The name Treat often appears as Trott or Trett in the old records. " ²⁶⁷
