!NOTE: Captain Richard Gist, of Balt. Co., Maryland, was born in 1684, and died 28 AUG, 1741; he was a surveyor of the Western Shore of Maryland; one of the seven commissioners in 1729 for laying out Baltimore Town and was commissioned in 1727 one of the justices of Balt. Co., which position he occupied continously until his death, being Presiding Magistrate in 1736; he represented his county in the Provincial Assembly, 1740-1741; in 1737 and also in 1741 he was styled "Captain" and held a commission as Captain in the County Militia; he owned extensive tracts of land in Balt. Co., of which he made conveyance at different times to his sons; married 7 DEC 1704, Zipporah Murray, daugther of James Murray, of Balt. Co. and Jemima Morgan, his wife, dau. of Capt. Thomas Morgan. She survived her husband and was living 25 APRIL, 1760. (MacKenzie 236).
